Penerapan teknik interview untuk meningkatkan kemampuan speaking siswa pada materi conditional sentence

This research is aimed at elucidating the increasing of English mastering and speaking ability of XII Accounting 2 students’ academic year 2019-2020 in learning conditional sentence through interview technique applied by the teacher. The research was conducted on August to September 2019 in SMK Negeri 3 Lhokseumawe where 30 students participated as the subject of research. This research called class action research was done in two cycles which each contains planning, conducting activity, observing, and reflecting. The data collection was based on the observation sheet, test result, and documentation. Conditional sentence mastery through interview technique showed a significant change on students understanding this material and contributed a lot on their interest and motivation in using it orally. The results showed that the level of student participation increased in the first cycle: 26.67% active category, 33.33% medium category, and 40.00% passive category and the average learning outcomes reached 77. While in cycle II: active category 66.67 %, the medium category is 26.67%, and the passive category is 6.67% and the average learning result is 87. Thus, the interview technique can improve the students' speaking skills.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang peningkatan penguasaan materi dan kemampuan berkomunikasi lisan pada siswa kelas XII AKL2 tahun pelajaran 2019/2020 dalam mempelajari materi conditional sentence melalui teknik interview yang diterapkan oleh guru. Kegiatan penelitian berlangsung pada bulan Agustus sampai dengan September 2019 di SMK Negeri 3 Lhokseumawe dengan jumlah subjek penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa. Penelitian yang berbentuk tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus dengan masing masing siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa lembar observasi, hasil test serta dokumentasi. Pembelajaran conditional sentence menggunakan teknik interview menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam memahami pola-pola kalimat conditional, serta memiliki motivasi tinggi untuk menggunakannya dalam berkomunikasi lisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat partisipasi siswa meningkat pada siklus I: kategori aktif 26,67%, kategori sedang 33,33%, dan kategori pasif 40,00% serta rerata hasil belajar mencapai 77. Sedangkan pada siklus II: kategori aktif 66,67%, kategori sedang 26,67%, dan kategori pasif 6,67% serta rerata hasil belajar mencapai 87. Dengan demikian maka teknik interview dapat meningkatkan kemampuan speaking siswa.
