Gen AI Policy
In today's digital era, the use of technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), in writing scientific articles has become an unavoidable phenomenon. AI can assist authors in processing data, formulating hypotheses, developing arguments, and generating relevant text content. However, the use of AI in writing scientific articles requires clear and transparent regulations to maintain academic integrity and ensure the authenticity of scientific work.
- Basic Principles of AI Use
- Originality and Integrity: Authors must ensure that AI does not entirely generate submitted articles without human intellectual intervention. AI can be used to enhance writing effectiveness, but all ideas, concepts, and main arguments must remain the author's own.
- Transparency: The use of AI in writing articles must be explicitly stated in the introduction or acknowledgements. Authors must include information about which parts of the article were processed with the help of AI and how AI was used in the writing process.
- Monitoring and Editing: While AI can be used to construct sentences or formulate ideas, authors must conduct thorough monitoring and editing to ensure that the quality of the article continues to meet high scientific standards.
- Permissible Uses of AI
- Sentence Composition: AI can be used to help construct more precise and more structured sentences, but must be double-checked to ensure it does not alter the original meaning.
- Data Analysis: AI can be used to process statistical data, analyze experimental results, or construct graphs and tables. All results generated by AI must be accompanied by a clear explanation of the methods used by the author.
- Reference Search: AI can assist in searching for relevant literature or references, but authors remain responsible for ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the references used in the article.
- Prohibited Use of AI
- Plagiarism: Authors are not permitted to use AI to generate articles or portions of articles that substantially resemble the work of others without providing appropriate credit. AI may not be used to plagiarize or copy the work of others, either directly or indirectly.
- Author Replacement: AI should not be used to replace the primary author in research or scientific articles. All ideas, analyses, and research results must originate from the human authors involved in the writing and research.
- Automated Decision Making: Authors should not use AI to make automated decisions regarding the content of the article that could influence the substance or conclusions drawn from the research. Authors remain fully responsible for the content and scientific quality of the submitted article.
- Ethical Use of AI in Scientific Writing
- Compliance with Academic Guidelines: The use of AI must always comply with applicable academic guidelines, including ethical principles in scientific research and writing. Authors must ensure that the results obtained from AI do not violate existing regulations, such as those governing the unauthorized or unethical use of data.
- Credibility and Reliability: AI used in scientific articles must come from credible and verified sources. Authors are required to confirm the results provided by AI and avoid over-reliance on this technology.
- Acknowledgement in Articles
- Authors who use AI in writing articles are required to include an acknowledgement note in the relevant acknowledgments section.
- Authors must provide an adequate explanation of how AI was used in writing their articles, including the AI tools or software used, and the aspects of the article processed by AI.
- Author Responsibilities
- Authors are fully responsible for the quality and originality of the submitted articles. The use of AI does not relieve authors from the obligation to ensure that submitted articles meet high academic standards and are free from plagiarism.
- Authors must be prepared to provide further clarification regarding the use of AI if requested by the journal editor or reviewers.
- Policy on the Use of AI in Article Evaluation
IJED editors and reviewers will consider the use of AI in articles and evaluate whether the articles meet expected academic and ethical standards. Any articles suspected of violating these provisions may be rejected or requested to be revised before publication.
