In every religious ritual, the community uses multiple types of upakara facilities which are seen as a symbolic communication process carried out between humans and God, for all His gifts. Upakara facilities come from biodiversity, one of which comes from plants. Plants from the Zingiberaceae family known as empon-empon plants are one of the upakara facilities used in every Yadnya ceremony. Research related to this utilization was conducted in Kedisan Village, Tegallalang District, Gianyar Regency. Based on the research results, it is known that there are 14 types of plants from the Zingiberaceae family that are used in the ceremony, namely jahe (Zingiber officinale), kunyit kuning (Curcuma domestica Val.), kencur (Kaempferia galanga), kecombrang (Etlingera elatior), temu ireng (Curcuma aeruginosa), temu lawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), temu kunci (Boesenbergia rotunda), temu giring (Curcuma heyneane), temu mangga (Curcuma amada), temu tis (Curcuma purpurascen Blume), temu gongseng (Kaempferia rotunda L.), temu agung (Curcuma aromatica), temu putih (Curcuma zedoaria Rocs.), dan lempuyang (Zingiber zerumbet). The use of Zingiberaceae plants as a means of ritual is so extensive that the local community balances it with conservation efforts carried out in the yard, planted in pots, and planted as an interlude in plantation areas, fields, and on the edge of rice fields. So in this case, the use of Zingiberaceae plants as a means of ritual is a local wisdom that contains conservation values.

2026-05-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi https://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/4572 KONSERVASI SUMBER DAYA ALAM HAYATI BERBASIS ETNOBIOPEDAGOGI (KAJIAN TEORITIS) 2025-03-07T02:24:53+00:00 I Nengah Suka Widana sukawidana@mahadewa.ac.id Putu Ryan Widyastaguna sukawidana@mahadewa.ac.id Ni Nyoman Parmithi sukawidana@mahadewa.ac.id N. To achieve this goal, a theoretical literature review was carried out using sources relevant to material on the conservation of biological natural resources based on ethnobiopedagogy (ethnobiology, pedagogy). Conclusions from the theoretical study include: (a) Ethnobiopedagogy is a strategy, an innovative approach in the conservation of biological resources that focuses on the field of education by integrating ethnic values, pedagogy and biology. (b) Local wisdom in preserving biodiversity has very strong and deep relevance. (c) Integration of Ethnobiopedagogy in Education and Conservation, as an intersection of at least three components, namely formal and non-formal education; forms of local wisdom traditions that still exist; and use of Information and Communication Technology. (d) Challenges in implementing Ethnobiopedagogy, namely low human resources, lack of curriculum integration, and the threat of modernization to local wisdom practices.
2026-05-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi https://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/4496 KEANEKARAGAMAN SUMBER DAYA HAYATI DAN POTENSINYA SEBAGAI BAHAN PESTISIDA NABATI 2025-01-21T02:15:18+00:00 I Made Subrata madesubrata745@gmail.com
Indonesia is a tropical country that has a variety of soil types, types of climate, both macro and micro climates and other environmental factors, causing Indonesia to have a diversity of biological resources arranged in a high diversity of ecosystems, both natural and artificial ecosystems. Agriculture is an artificial ecosystem that functions to support the lives of farmers socio-economically. An agricultural ecosystem that is less stable will result in a decline in agricultural production and a decline in the health of people who consume agricultural products as the main food ingredient. In agricultural cultivation, controlling pests and plant diseases is absolutely necessary to increase agricultural yields. Vegetable pesticides are pesticides whose active ingredients come from plants or plants and other organic materials which are effective in controlling pest attacks and plant diseases. The ingredients for these vegetable pesticides are sourced from various types of existing plants. The active compounds in these botanical pesticides are biodegradable so they are safe for the health of the environment and consumers.
2026-05-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi https://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/4739 PEMANFAATAN PEKARANGAN RUMAH SEBAGAI BENTUK KONSERVASI TERHADAP LINGKUNGAN DAN PELUANG BISNIS KELUARGA 2025-05-06T08:44:31+00:00 N. In Bali, the use of medicinal plants by the community is not only for traditional medicine, but also part of the cultural heritage that reflects the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. This study aims to explore and integrate the potential of local medicinal plants as contextual learning resources in biology subjects at SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar. The method used is an exploratory qualitative study through observations of the school environment, interviews with community leaders and biology teachers, and documentation of local ethnobotany references. The results of the exploration showed that there are at least twelve species of medicinal plants commonly used by the local community, including temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon aristatus), and pule pandak (Rauvolfia serpentina). These three plants have interesting morphological characteristics to study as well as pharmacological properties that are relevant to public health issues. The integration of these plants in biology learning is carried out through a contextual approach, such as herbarium creation projects, identification of plant structures, and creation of educational videos based on field studies. This activity increases student engagement in the learning process and strengthens the relationship between biological concepts and local realities around them. This finding emphasizes the importance of integrating local knowledge into the school curriculum as a strategy to enrich open materials, increase learning motivation, and foster awareness of conservation and preservation of local culture. This study recommends the development of systematic local wisdom-based teaching materials as a concrete step in supporting Independent Learning and preserving local identity through education.
2026-05-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi https://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/4590 HUTAN SEKOLAH SEBAGAI KONSERVASI KEANEKARAGAMAN HAYATI DAN SUMBER BELAJAR DI SMP NEGERI 13 DENPASAR-BALI 2025-03-18T07:19:32+00:00 I Wayan Suanda wayansuanda@mahadewa.co.id I Wayan Ratnadi wayansuanda@mahadewa.co.id Ni Made Sukasih suandawayan65@gmail.com Nurul Ekawati suandawayan65@gmail.com
Hutan sekolah di perkotaan memiliki keberadaan yang cukup penting mengingat ruang untuk taman kota sangat sedikit ditemukan. The number of Bali starlings in nature is few and are classified as rare or endangered animals. This is the effect of the large number of illegal hunts in natural habitats because of high market demand and loss of forest habitat which causes the population of Bali starlings to decline rapidly. The method used in this research is library research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Based on the research results, it is known that conservation efforts for the Bali starling as a protected animal through the local wisdom of the Balinese people which is based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy have had a positive influence on the number of Bali starlings. The explanation of Tri Hita Karana is in the form of awig-awig or customary law. Community support for local wisdom is important in its implementation in a conservation-carrying capacity.
2026-05-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi https://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/4494 ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN EFFECTIVE ENGLISH COMMUNICATION DALAM MENDESKRIPSIKAN TEMPAT WISATA SERTA KONSERVASI BUDAYA DAN ALAM DI BALI 2025-01-20T05:09:30+00:00 Ni Made Milati milabec26@gmail.com Kadek Yuniari Suryatini yuniarisuryatini@gmail.com
This study was conducted with two objectives: 1) How is the use of English used by students? 2) To find out effective methods of communication for students so that later this study requires a comprehensive and systematic study.
