Hindu religious ceremonies in Bali always use upakara or banten as a means of getting closer to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Plants are one of the ceremonial equipment in the form of leaves, fruit, and flowers. The use of fruit, especially local fruit, has an important meaning in making upakara. Among the various types of fruit, some of them can be found easily, but some are rarely found so they are considered rare. Based on these facts, various efforts are needed to preserve it. Preserving local fruit can be done by: limiting imported fruit and preferring to consume local fruit to prevent extinction; cultivating or multiplying local fruit plants; not cutting down local fruit trees carelessly; applying the principles of logging and planting; and maintaining plants and care for them properly. Another effort is local wisdom which is spread through myths and folklore. The use of plant species, including fruit, in ceremonies provides a mandate or message of responsibility for preserving plants so that the ceremony can continue.

2024-05-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologihttps://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/3778PEMANFAATAN TANAMAN UPAKARA SEBAGAI MEDIA ALAMI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI DI SEKOLAH2024-05-30T09:10:04+00:00
Learning is a process of educational interaction that occurs between teachers and students, and one of the components that determines its success is learning media. Using appropriate media in learning activities is one way to achieve the learning objectives you want to achieve. The diversity of upakara plants can be used as a natural learning medium in conveying plant biodiversity material in biology learning at school. The use of upakara plants as a learning medium can provide direct experience to students, giving a complete and meaningful impression of various plant variations based on characteristics that can be observed by involving all the five senses. Students not only receive information, but are actively involved in exploring, seeking and discovering new experiences to be able to construct their own knowledge. Therefore, the use of upakara plants found in the surrounding environment acts as a natural medium that can help develop all students' potential in understanding and recognizing the types of plants in nature. Apart from that, students are also able to apply their understanding of the importance of plant biodiversity, as well as apply the principles of grouping living things (taxonomy) based on observable characteristics, so as to facilitate learning activities, especially on plant biodiversity material.
2024-05-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologihttps://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/3776PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI BERBASIS LINGKUNGAN DALAM UPAYA PENINGKATAN LITERASI SAINS DAN PELESTARIAN KEARIFAN LOKAL MASYARAKAT BALI2024-05-30T08:20:07+00:00I Made Subratamadesubrata745@gmail.com
Abstract. Environment-based learning is learning that emphasizes the environment as a medium or learning resource, can contextualize biological material with the surrounding environment, because biological material is available in abundance in nature, both microscopic and macroscopic material objects. The environment acts as an open laboratory. Scientific literacy is the ability to use scientific knowledge, identify questions, and draw conclusions based on existing evidence in order to understand and make decisions regarding nature and changes made to nature through human activities. Environmentally based Biology learning will be able to improve students' literacy skills through observation, data collection, data analysis and communicating the results of data analysis. Local wisdom (local knowledge, local wisdom) acts as a source of innovation and skills that can be empowered for the welfare of society. Local wisdom related to natural wealth, culture and customs contains a moral message that society always protects natural wealth and traditional traditions so that they do not change with developments over time. The science of biology, which discusses living things, including their varieties, origins, habitat, interactions, utilization and sustainability, has been philosophically reflected in the community's way of life in the form of local wisdom. The purpose of writing this article is to reveal that through environment-based biology learning as a learning resource that is linked to the local wisdom of the community, students will be able to improve the scientific literacy skills and preserve the local wisdom of the local community. This writing method uses a literature review method combined with direct experience in the community. The preservation of the local wisdom of the Balinese people has been carried out through the application of the Tri Hita Karana teachings, which are three causes of prosperity that originate from harmonious relationships which include the relationship between humans and God, humans and the surrounding environment, and humans and each other. The implementation of the Tri Hita Karana teachings is carried out through concrete actions and through the implementation of religious rituals that contain environmental conservation values.
2024-05-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologihttps://ojs.mahadewa.ac.id/index.php/sembio/article/view/3773TEKNIK PENGAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA BAGI PENUTUR ASING (BIPA) BERBASIS ETNOPEDAGOGI2024-05-29T12:43:44+00:00Ni Made Milatimilabec26@gmail.com
BIPA program aims to help foreign speakers learn and master Indonesian, whether for academic, professional or daily communication purposes. So as many as 94.1% of people still use bamboo. In the Pawongan sector, especially for medicine, there are still many people who do not know that bamboo material can be used as medicine. From the respondents' answers, 37.41% said they didn't know, or rarely used it. The culture of a tribe or ethnic in the region, such as: the use of Girang-Girang plant leaves (Leea indica) in an art performance in Bali is very popular. The use of Girang-Girang plant has a philosophical value, so it has become a guideline (a tradition in which contains belief values that should be implemented) in artistic activities. This local wisdom needs to be socialized and developed in the world of education and used as a source of learning so that the meaning and benefits are known, and to be preserved and developed economically in the form of bioentrepreneurship. Ethnopedagogy teaches problem-solving based on local wisdom, so that students' cognitive structures can be activated. This allows students to critically examine the problems that exist in their environment and produce original solutions that refer to the levels found in the local culture which serves as the basis. Critical and creative thinking skills can be instilled by combining problem-solving exercises based on local knowledge with the biology lessons. The method applied in this research is a literature study. The data used is a collection of articles in research journals available in the Google Scholar database and is devoted to learning in Indonesia. The selected literature consists of articles with qualitative and quantitative approaches. There are no limitations on publication year or language usage. The research results show that biology learning cannot be separated from its environment, and incorporating local wisdom in biology learning can make it a fun learning resource. Students can indirectly be trained to care about the surrounding environment, act as biological conservation agents, and preserve the values contained in local wisdom. We conclude that the ethnopedagogical approach in biology learning can be applied because biology learning is natural science-based learning that can be linked to local wisdom. This application can also be expressed in learning media or tools to support the improvement of students’ interest.
2024-05-29T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 SEMBIO: Prosiding Seminar Nasional Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi
