KESETARAAN GENDER DALAM PEMBANGUNAN DAN PEMBERDAYAAN EKONOMI MASYARAKAT

Abstract

Gender equality is one of the central issues in efforts to realize social justice and respect for human rights around the world. Development policies that increase productivity differences between men and women tend to worsen the income gap and further erode the economic status of women in the household. Studies have shown that gender equality has a positive impact on economic growth and poverty alleviation. This study aims to analyze the impact of gender equality on community economic development and empowerment. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method to present an overview of the relationship between the concept of gender equality in development and community economic empowerment. The results of this study explain the need for women's empowerment programs in Indonesia. In addition, there is a need for education and promotion related to gender equality in order to actualize human rights protection. This is very important as a form of concern for human development that is oriented towards providing opportunities for people to be able to live their lives with respect. In fact, there is still a gap between the millennium development goals to promote gender equality and its actualization in Indonesia.
