Penerapan Bimbingan Kelompok Berbasis Teknik Diskusi untuk Meningkatkan Kepercayaan Diri Siswa SMA

Self-confidence is a psychological aspect that plays a vital role in shaping students' character and academic success within the school environment. Students with high levels of self-confidence are generally more active in classroom participation, more willing to express their opinions, and better prepared to face academic and social challenges. However, a number of students still exhibit low self-confidence, as observed in SMA Negeri 1 Mengwi. This condition negatively impacts their ability to speak in public, share ideas in discussions, and fully develop their potential. Such problems require structured and effective interventions within the educational context. This study aims to improve students' self-confidence through the application of group guidance utilizing the discussion technique. The research employed the Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) method conducted over two cycles involving ten students from class XI Bahasa 1 who were identified as having low self-confidence. The results demonstrated a significant increase in self-confidence, from an initial score of 54.2% to 77.1% after two cycles of intervention. This improvement was reflected across five key aspects of self-confidence: self-belief, optimism, objectivity, responsibility, and rationality. The study confirms that the discussion technique in group guidance is an effective strategy to enhance students' self-confidence within the school environment.
