PENERAPAN KONSELING BEHAVIORAL DENGAN TEKNIK PENGUATAN POSITIF UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MINAT MEMBACA SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 3 SEMARAPURA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2020/2021

This research is a type of action research that aims to increase students' reading interest by applying behavioral counseling with positive reinforcement techniques. The subjects of this study were students of class VII - C of SMP Negeri 3 Semarapura in the 2020/2021 academic year as many as 4 students with 3 male categories and 1 female student who had low reading interest and would be given the application of behavioral counseling with positive reinforcement techniques.
Based on the results of the analysis of the reading interest questionnaire at SMP Negeri 3 Semarapura for the 2020/2021 academic year, there was an increase of around % to 31.81%, with an average increase of 28.45%. However, if it is seen that the increase in the score of 56.5% is still in the low category, so the results of this reflection indicate the need for positive reinforcement techniques in cycle II. Furthermore, from the results of the second cycle of action, it was clear that there was an increase in interest in reading VII SMP Negeri 3 Semarapura for the 2020/2021 academic year from 18.96% to 27.27%, with an average increase of 23.95%. The result of this percentage is also proven by the expression that is raised by the presence of; 1) feeling happy with reading activities, 2) need for reading activities, 3) desire to find reading material, 4) desire to do reading activities, and 5) interest in reading.
Seeing the significant results of the counseling carried out, it can be concluded that the application of behavioral counseling with positive reinforcement techniques can increase the reading interest of class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Semarapura in the 2020/2021 academic year.
